My Taylor Story

4th February 2010

So I’ve decided to write this up again now that I’ve come out of shock and calmed down a bit hahah had time to think ;P

So we got to BEC around 6pm an hour later than i hoped due to costume changes, curling of hair, and taking a wrong turn, but we got there, and everything sort of fell into place perfectly from then on :)  So I was wearing a Junior Jewels shirt, Maddie was wearing a blue dress like in Fearless photo shoot, Grace had a White Horse costume, and Sydney a sparkly dress (SNL monologue)

So we get to the gates and security is like those posters are too big, suspected that, but we managed to get them through, even though security was like they will just stop you at the door, they didn’t even notice our posters from then on!

So we get inside and it’s packed!  Go get our pit passes and they have been joined together :/ not good so we go down to admin, and they r like, i quote, “we can’t touch those” lol so secret service, I’m like ok then, how the hell do we get them on our wrists hahah.  So we find a random usher guy and he breaks them apart and we go to first aid and they tape them on :) all good!  

So we find Catie and Bec and give them the puzzle piece letters for Taylor and Andrea.  Then go and get something to eat lol.  After that it’s about 7pm and we decide it’s now or never to get merchandise and the line is massive, wish BEC put up line ropes or something cause it was just a massive rugby scrum pushing towards the counter haha.  So we wait in line for like 30 – 40 mins, there is this huge family of 15 behind us pushing the whole way, and they finally manage to get in front of us, pretty annoying.  While waiting in line get major excited as i get a text from Bec saying “I’m in the t-party room” :) i was like WOOOO!! And people are staring hahah.  

So we get our merchandise and its 7:40pm and we practically run around to door 12, yelling “OMG we are going to see Taylor Swift” hahah once again more people staring at us hahah.   So we get to the door and we have 3 pit passes (thanks to Catie :) ) and 4 people.  So I’m like I’m not wasting this opportunity to be in Pit, but the others decide to stay in our original seats.  So i get escorted down to the Pit i feel like a VIP lol, so cool just being taken down past everyone to the front :).  Were told by security no cameras or phone in the pit (that didn’t last long once it started lol).  So Gloriana is just finishing their set, only heard 2 and half songs, but didn’t really care by that stage as i was getting bloody excited at how freaking close we were to the stage.  So then Bec arrives in the Pit and i must say Bec it was pretty funny how everyone turns around is like “You met Taylor, oh my god” haha then you have everyone’s attention hahah so awesome :).  So we have our little group me, Catie, Lindsay, Brooke, and Bec and we r pretty stoked!   ‘Shake It’ by Metro Station comes on and the show is about to start :D.  

“Welcome To The Fearless Tour!” :D 

I must say that there wasn’t one song that didn’t blow my mind :)

And i wasn’t even disappointed that she didn’t sing any Platinum songs, cause every song was incredible, stand outs for me if i can choose would probably be TWAF and Should’ve Said No.    

TWAF was a once in a lifetime moment, Taylor looked so happy, and when tay squared came up on the big screen and everyone flipped out (including me ;)) Taylor’s reaction = Priceless :D 

So during a number of songs Taylor’s PA takes us around the front of the stage! 

The best moment by far was Forever & Always, as soon as i realised what song was next I’m like OH MY GOD Taylor kneels down right at the front in this!  So the songs starts and Catie and I are getting pretty excited hahah.  So Taylor kneels down and I grab her hand, not touch but held hahah i sound crazy but it was awesome! Hahah, it’s quite funny because leading up to that there was like no one near us but Catie and myself, then as soon as Taylor reaches out her hand there was like 5 more people around us, dunno where they came from but was funny (you can see in the video of it, everyone just lunges for her arm lol) So i get to hold her hand for 30 seconds or so, I squeeze her hand and she squeezes back, then the girl with “The Duck” arrives and tries to give it to Taylor, Taylor’s face is like awww… and she finally takes it and sits it in her lap :)

Ok so other stand out moments are Liz and I’s constant waving and smiling at each other at the concert, Grant rocking out with Catie and her guitar! :) Touching Caitlin’s elbow hahah.  Amos trying to throw 2 guitar picks, which neither made it off the stage ;P.  Taylor making her way through the crowd back to the front stage, bursting out of the crowd with a look on her face that was like “OMG that was fun, but god I’m glad i made it haha” seriously her face said all that ;).  Also people just getting crushed and being pull out by security.  Also security handing out water that was so nice.  And just the pit in general, everyone was so nice, and being able to run back and forth to where Taylor was on the stage was incredible!

Ok so the curtains go down on what I can’t believe was the most awesome thing I’ve ever experienced.  But IT GETS BETTER, honestly don’t know how!  So Catie and I are wandering around on the floor looking for Taylor’s PA, for T-party passes, we pick up some confetti, and nearly call it a night. Then my phone rings, it’s my mum and i can’t hear much cause it’s so loud.  BUT there are 3 words I’ll never forget, MADDIE (my cousin), MEET & TAYLOR! For some reason my cousin was ringing my mum thinking it was me, screaming “we are meeting Taylor”! So I freak out and ring Maddie and she’s like freaking out screaming going “OMG we got t-party passes, we are meeting Taylor!” Best Phone Call of My Life! By that stage Catie and I are in a massive crowd trying to get out and I’m like OH MY GOD IM MEETING TAYLOR! And people are looking at me crazy again hahah.  I have never moved so fast anywhere in my life, we push through the crowd and run down to Admin, where my cousin and her two best friends are sitting across from The Where’s Wally girls ;) holding the red t-party passes, and i basically knock my cousin over into the couch hahah.  So we sit there and talk to The Where’s Wally girls who by the way are so cool :) so glad we met you girls :).  Then we get called over, and I’m extremely excited.  

So we walk over to the security lady, she is so nice, gosh EVERYONE was so nice!  

And we get led down the hallway, past the no joke “Taylor Swift cafeteria” there is a sign hahah :)

Past dressing rooms and other offices i wasn’t taking much notice cause we were running down to the T-party room lol.  So we get to the door, and Taylor’s PA is like just stay in your groups and find a spot in the room, Taylor will walk around to you, get one thing to sign, and take a group photo.  So we walk in (someone says help yourself to pizza :)) there is like 10 other fans, we sit down on the couch opposite some other girls, who like us have the biggest smile on their faces and we start chatting, more like group freak outing haha.  So the T-party room here is not like the American one but it’s just as cool, big fancy couches, fairy lights, plants, and table tennis and foosball table lol.    So about 5 minutes later, Taylor’s PA comes back into the room and says Taylor’s just getting changed and will be in in a minute, so we all start chanting her name and screaming, and pretty much just loosing it hahah.  Then Taylor comes in and it’s like OMG it’s actually her haha.  So I’m pretty much in shock for most of the T-party haha, but i do remember a lot of stuff.  Firstly the whole band, all dancers and Andrea arrive in the room, EPIC!  So we decide to walk over and say Hi to Andrea (you can see where Taylor gets her height lol, so tall) and we ask Andrea for her autograph she genuinely looks surprised and very gracious.  She signs our stuff and we say your daughters amazing, you must be so proud, etc.  She looks so happy and proud, makes you want to cry ;)  We ask if they had a good time in Brisbane she said (i quote), “we had a great time, really love it here in Brisbane, and we are going to come back soon”.  !!!! Score!!! Hahah i was excited, and she gave us all guitar picks.  So then we talk to every band member and get autographs and some photos.  But the highlight was when Caitlin and Grant put on our White Horse costume and paraded around the room, hilarious.  1. They couldn’t get it over there ass’s hahah, 2. Caitlin was rolling on the floor in it hahah, 3. Caitlin led Grant around the room by the reins lol, and ran up and hugged Taylor in it :).  Caitlin is the coolest person; she said i quote “your Junior Jewels shirt is the most accurate replica I’ve ever seen” .  Then i took a photo with her and was like “Where’s Eunice?” and she said “Who’s Eunice?” and by that stage we are laughing hahah, then she was like “Eunice has been very unreasonable lately, I’ve locked her up”.  Then I’m like you should have brought her to Australia and she smiled :).  

Ok SO MEETING TAYLOR SWIFT! 

So Taylor comes over to us, and is like you girl look so cute! And she’s really excited about the white horse costume; we told her we got it off eBay for $20 and she’s like awesome buy! Hahah.  We show her all of our costumes and matching posters.  Sydney’s poster which say “I like glitter and sparkly dresses” made her laugh she loved it and we told her my aunty made Sydney’s sparkly dress and she’s like awww… So I’m next and i show her my “Today IS A Fairytale” poster and she looks like she’s going to cry, and i felt like i might haha.  We say this is like a dream, and she says “Dreams do come true” ;).  She asks me if Caitlin had seen my Junior Jewels shirt, and I say yes she loved it, Taylor says it’s really accurate as well and really likes it :) Then Sydney says to Taylor “We were going to make a poster with a picture of Joe Jonas and a big cross through it”, and OMG Taylor just has a laughing and giggly attack it’s so funny and cute.  So we all got 2 hugs from her and she keeps gushing Thank You :).  Then we gave Taylor’s PA this lacy headband we had to give to Taylor, as she had already moved on to other fans (so I’m like looking out for her wearing it now) hahah.  Then it’s time to go and i feel like i never want to leave lol.  We walk back out past the security lady who says, “Have a good night girls”, which we reply with “oh i think we will” hahah

Get back to the car and its 11:50pm and we sit there for a few minutes freaking out, just saying over and over we just met Taylor Swift.  Then my cousin says to me, “Can you even drive?” and we just laugh hahah 

I’d just like to say a few thank yous, Catie :) thanks for hanging in the pit and spending Wednesday with me in the city, so much fun, Bec i think you alone know how i feel about Thursday night, similar experiences, and I had so much fun in the Pit with you singing along to every word :),  Brooke after meeting you just once, i feel like we are great friends now :).  All the puzzle project people thank you for your ideas, advice, help, encouragement, and FB parties the last couple of weeks :) To Erica Taylor’s PA THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.  To Jordan, thank you for doing the hard jobs on here, and making this week for Australian Fans perfect! :)

Waiting 13 hours at BEC for Taylor

  • As we drove in around 6am we were behind one of Taylor’s trucks carrying the stage, which was so exciting.
  • We watched the crew unload the trucks, saw the Valentine’s Day bear, and the second stage tree get wheeled in, and a few other parts of the stage.
  • We saw Taylor walk into the venue with Scott and Austin, Scott waved to us and Austin laughed.
  • Met Scott for the first time, he’s really nice, took a photo and gave me a guitar pick, and everyone sung him Happy Birthday.  
  • Met so many nice, genuine Taylor fans in Brisbane, I was so impressed by how patient, respectful and polite everyone was who waited at the fence with us most of the day.  Every time someone arrived in a car we would all be quiet and not scream in hopes someone would come say hi, so that was really great.  
  • My friend Nikki climbed up on a bin and stood there watching over the fence until she got in trouble by BEC staff haha she’s a rebel haha, love you! 
  • Catie and I made a Puzzle Piece Project poster, so good to finally have our day for the puzzle, I love each and every one of our group, and we could not have done this without you.  Everyone who tweeted or texted me during that day saying have fun or you deserve that so much, means so much to me, I love you guys.
  • Talked to Scott about the Puzzle and he said he knew about it.  Also that Andrea was back home looking after Meredith and that Taylor misses her.  
  • Just before 4pm Taylor’s management came outside where 20-30 fans were waiting.  They said they heard we’d been there since 6am, and came over to us with pit passes, all 8 of my friends got them, and that is seriously one of the highlights for me.  We also talked to them about the puzzle and they said Taylor had put it together that day.  I cried after getting the pit passes, one of the best moments in my life, I never thought I’d get that amazing opportunity again, and I can not thank Taylor’s management enough.  After the Fearless tour, one of my main dreams was that the majority of my friends and I would get to see Taylor all together, I never imagined it would have been this good.  

The Meet & Greet 

  • One of my best friends, Catie won the meet and greet competition from Take40.  We got taken through the T-Party room, and lined up in there to meet Taylor.  Got taken through to meet Taylor, there was 2-3 security and a photographer in there with her, which was kind of intimidating.  We walked in and Taylor walked forward and hugged us both.  She still feels extremely skinny.  We told her we are Aussie Puzzlers and she was like omg really that’s so cool, and then said that she put the puzzle together that very afternoon.  I then asked her if we could have a photo of it and she either didn’t hear me or she ignored me, to be honest I think it was the latter.  Catie then told her we’d been there since 6am and that we had been writing the hours on Catie’s arm, and that the 7pm M&G was the 13th hour.  Catie asked if Taylor would write the 13th hour on her arm, which she did, that was really cool of her because I didn’t think she would.  Then Taylor said we should get a photo, so we did, and then we had to leave.  

The Concert

  • After we came out of the M&G we went down to the pit, where the rest of our friends were already.  Compared to being in the Fearless pit, the Speak Now pit is on a whole other level.  Took some cool photos with my friends while waiting for Hot Chelle Rae to come on.  
  • HCR were amazing live.  I wasn’t much of a fan beforehand, just a few songs that I liked.  Their cover of ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ was awesome.  The whole band is incredibly hot in person.  I had a few moments of eye contact with Ryan which was cool.  ‘I Like It Like That’ is soooooo good live.  During the last song, Nash bent down and rocked out on his guitar in front of Teigan next to me, a really fun moment.  
  • Claire, Charity and Meredith came into the pit during HCR.
  • During the break before Taylor came on, we talked to Taylor’s handler, who stayed in our pit all night.  He used to be Miley’s handler when she was 16-18 years old, and said she was really fun to work with.  He also talked about shooting the ‘Safe and Sound’ music video.  When they drove up to the set, apparently Taylor was freaked out about sitting on the graves haha.  And the being barefoot was entirely her idea but she did freeze doing it.  
  • The concert was amazing, Taylor’s voice has improved so much in the last two years since I’ve seen her.  Favourite performances would be ‘The Story of Us’, ‘Haunted’, ‘Dear John’, and ‘Long Live’ which made me cry.  
  • Caitlin and Liz both grabbed my hand two times each.  When Caitlin grabbed my hand the first time, we both grabbed a bit hard, and kinda got pulled a bit haha, she is seriously amazing though.  
  • Dominique and Meredith danced in front of me at one point and were spinning around while slapping my hands multiple times and smiling, was really cool to interact with them.  
  • Justin also smiled at me.  
  • SAFE AND SOUND.  Amazing.  I love that Taylor always plays new songs here first.  
  • She said Brisbane is her favourite place to come in Australia.  

7th March 2012

Night #2

  • Got to BEC around 1pm, sat outside and waited for Taylor to arrive.  She hid in the back of the bands mini bus, but waved this time. 
  • HCR covered ‘Teenage Dream’ which was incredible, so much fun.  
  • “Brissy”….. “Brisneyland”….. “Brisvegas”
  • Taylor played ‘Ours’ instead of ‘Fearless’ at the second stage which was amazing, and made me cry.  As did ‘Fifteen’ and ‘Long Live’ again.  
  • Taylor cried during ‘Ours’.
  • During ‘Fifteen’ Caitlin was head butting Paul while she was sitting on the couch, and pulling funny faces at different parts of the song, which was amusing haha.  
  • ‘Dear John’ sounded incredible from our seats, as did ‘Safe and Sound’ again.  
  • Kelly Slater was also in one of the pits.  

Finally I just want to say thank you so much to my amazing friends, the ones who I spent the two days with, and the ones who are in Melbourne and America.  Catie, Amber, Abbey, Teigan, Brooke, Nikki, and Phoebe, I can’t believe that wonderful thing happened to us.  I am so happy I got to share that with you.  It was so worth getting up so early!  I love you all, spending the day and night together with Taylor was once in a lifetime.  To my PPP girls and boy haha you are like family, thank you so much for your excitedness for us throughout the day.  Sorry you couldn’t sleep Sydney haha.  Another successful puzzle! We can only hope we get a photo this time, can’t say we didn’t try.  Sam and Annie, I hope you have as much fun as we did, we’ll be there in spirit and I know you’ll both love the show.  Dance and sing like crazy, because it’s true what everyone says, the concert is the best part.  Everyone who has tweeted me the last couple of days, showing your happiness for me, means so much to me, you don’t even know.  I really don’t know what else to say, except that eventually everything comes around, and maybe if you’re lucky enough, it’s everything you thought it would be.
